Computer Sciences - How Gifts Make a Difference

MATCHING GIFT AVAILABLE: Thanks to a generous anonymous donor to the School of Computer, Data & Information Sciences, your gift to the Department of Computer Sciences, Information School, or Department of Statistics will be matched dollar for dollar to that area — up to $20,000 — during Day of the Badger.

CHALLENGE MET! Thanks to the 57 donors that helped unlock an additional $2,000 for the Department of Computer Sciences' greatest needs. Let's keep going as every gift makes a difference during Day of the Badger.

Gifts are critical for scholarships, outreach, and many other forms of student support. This year, we’re focusing on the undergraduate experience, particularly working toward more opportunities for underrepresented groups. Over the years, our generous alumni have supported numerous scholarships, the Computer Sciences Learning Center (which offers free drop-in tutoring for computer sciences students), and the Wisconsin Emerging Scholars-Computer Sciences program (a for-credit study group that targets groups underrepresented in computer sciences). We need your help with continuing to fund these important programs and expanding resources for undergraduates.

Why We Need Your Support

The Department of Computer Sciences is well established, highly ranked, and growing rapidly. We currently have the largest number of majors on campus and need to serve them all well with more faculty, research opportunities, new classes, and new ways of teaching and collaborating. Our goal this year is to raise funds to enhance the undergraduate experience, including scholarships and assistantships and creating an undergraduate collaboration space where students can work together and connect. We’ll need more resources in the coming months as we continue to expand our programs. We are proud to be a part of the newly created School of Computer, Data, and Information Sciences (CDIS), which will generously match gifts made to the Department of Computer Sciences.

What is day of the badger

Day of the Badger is a day — and then some — to celebrate and support UW–Madison. It’s exactly 1848 minutes for all alumni, students, and friends throughout Badger nation to make a far-reaching impact in a short amount of time.
